How to make home practice feel lighter
Small repeatable routines can build progress without turning home into a therapy room.
Home practice should not make parents feel like they must become therapists all day.
The most sustainable progress often comes from small repeatable moments already present in family life.
Start with one routine
Choose one daily routine such as brushing, snack time, getting dressed, bedtime, or leaving for school. Add one simple goal to that routine.
For example:
- Offer two choices during snack time
- Practise one transition warning before leaving the house
- Use a visual first-then card before bedtime
- Pause during play and wait for the child to request more
Keep it human
A home is still a home. Progress should protect warmth, play, rest, and connection.
